The financial situation of the Finnish Ski Association surprises William Poromaa.
The financial problems of the Finnish Ski Association with layoffs and deductibles have been in the headlines as the new ski season approaches.
In the fiscal year ending at the end of October 2023, the Ski Federation made a loss of almost two million euros at the group level. The Ski Federation’s share was 1.288 million, and the commercial company Nordic Ski Finland’s was 651,000 euros.
Finnish skiing is fighting for survival, which has not gone unnoticed in its western neighbor. In Sweden, it is especially surprising that Finnish skiers have to pay deductibles for World Cup weekends in the starting season.

According to Poromaa, something similar would not happen in Sweden. In his opinion, everything in the Swedish national team works well and is handled professionally. He emphasizes that one should be grateful for that.
In fact, the Swedish Ski Federation has recently heard the most strange things, but they have mainly focused on the alpine skiing division.
