The Swedish skiing stars’ tough decision ahead of winter arouses reactions – several choose to nod in record time: “Put it down”

Soon a new ski season will start again.
Our Swedish national team skaters are fully preparing.
But now comes a record-breaking decision that is causing reactions.

Another ski season is just around the corner and this winter the big goal is of course the 2025 World Ski Championships in Trondheim. The world’s best cross-country skiers are in the middle of the tough preparations during the pre-season to build up the body in the best way for the important season.

Swedes are noobs

But despite the fact that we are not even in September yet, a tough decision will now be made that will be decisive for the coming season. Several Swedish national team skiers have already decided to try the Tour de Ski.

The article continues below.

Due to the Ski World Cup, a lot of skiers choose to drop out of the mini-tour at the World Cup.
– Unfortunately, I don’t have any good tour memories. In the initial plan, it doesn’t feel like it is relevant to run the Tour de Ski, says Emma Ribom to Aftonbladet.

Linn & Ebba’s words

Also Moa Ilar declines and Jonna Sundling is seriously doubtful.
– The basic plan is that I will not drive. I need a more substantial training block, says Ilar to the evening newspaper.
– I haven’t closed the door yet, but probably not, says Sundling.

Maja Dahlqvist is in the election and the qualifier, somewhere 50-50, while Lynn Svahn and Ebba Andersson have said they intend to go to Toblach and Val di Fiemme over Christmas and New Year.

Frida Karlssonwho won the entire Tour de Ski 2023 has not yet spoken out on the matter but one who is now putting his foot down against all dropouts is Calle Halfvarsson. As he sees it as an obligation to compete.
– I think it’s a competition that you should compete in. It’s one of our biggest competitions in the World Cup. They can stop the tour if everyone starts dropping out, says Calle, who is also supported in Norway.
– It is very important that as many as possible of the best are involved in the big competitions. I think everyone in Norway has a plan to ride the tour and most competitions even if it’s a championship, says Martin Löwström Nyenget according to the Norwegian ski site langrenn.com.
