In the voting, opposition lawmakers were one under the 175 “No” votes required for the rejection of the supplementary budget. With the opposition remaining at 174 votes, the additional budget bill was passed by the parliament.
Independent MP Amineh Kakabaveh, a supporter of the terrorist organization PKK/YPG, announced that she voted in favor of the government. Kakabaveh had blocked the parliament for a week by not supporting the additional budget drafts proposed separately by the government and opposition parties.
Until the last day, Kakabaveh was saying that the government would not support the law because of NATO negotiations with Turkey. Parliament Speaker Andreas Norlen stated that if the law is not adopted again, he will draw lots among the drafts prepared by the government and the opposition. Kakabaveh, who was accused of causing political chaos, took a step back and voted in favor of the government at the last moment.
Kakabaveh, on the other hand, prevented the additional budget from being passed by the parliament in the vote held on June 15th.
Kakabaveh, who demanded that Sweden’s negotiations with Turkey regarding its NATO membership application be stopped, threatened that if its demands against Turkey were not met, both parties would vote against it.
