The Swedish Palestine activist: “Jews have my deepest sympathies”

Willy Silberstein, a member of the Jewish congregation in Stockholm, is one of those who is worried after the last week’s developments:

– So many Jews who were murdered in Israel on Saturday have not been murdered in one day since the Holocaust. That there are groups in Sweden that pay tribute to the group that is behind this disgusting murder of babies, the elderly, men and women and young people at festivals I think is disgusting.

Local politician and Palestine activist Bassem Nasr (MP) confirms that there are anti-Semitic statements among Palestinians in Sweden and in the Swedish Palestine movement. While Nasr believes that those who offend Jews are a minority, he emphasizes the importance of countering the hatred:

– It is important that there are many of us who raise our voices and protest against racism, both in society and within the Palestine movement.
