The Swedish Medicines Agency wants to see better cooperation between authorities regarding the control of products with low THC content, according to a press release.

In a report submitted to the government, the Medical Products Agency proposes that the authority be tasked with forming a consultation group to unify the authorities’ views on which rules should apply.

These are primarily hemp products with a high content of CBD, which has increased significantly both in Sweden in recent years. The products are marketed as pharmaceuticals, foodstuffs, cosmetics and feed, among other things.

“Since neither industrial hemp nor the substance CBD are narcotics, different interpretations have been made as to whether the products are narcotics or not,” the Swedish Medicines Agency writes in the press release.
