Pain-relieving gel with the substance diclofenac will be removed from the shelves of pharmacies, the Swedish Pharmacy Association announces.
Diclofenac, which today can be sold without a prescription in pharmacies and grocery stores, is dangerous for the environment and cannot be broken down in sewage treatment plants.
– It is this type of product that will be moved off the shelf so that you cannot go straight to the shelf and buy and walk out, says Johan Wallér, CEO of Sweden’s Pharmacy Association.
But if it’s so harmful, why don’t you stop selling it altogether?
– They help many people who have this type of concern.
