The Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (UD) warns of a possible increased terrorist threat in the Russian capital Moscow in the next few days.
“The embassy reminds Swedes in the country to avoid public gatherings, be vigilant and follow the advice and instructions of local authorities,” writes the Foreign Ministry’s press service in an email to TT.
The press service states that the risk of terrorist acts in Russia was already known. The embassy in Moscow has informed about it in its travel information on Sweden Abroad, the email says.
The US Embassy in Moscow on Thursday issued a warning to avoid public gatherings for the next 48 hours.
According to US intelligence, extremists may be planning to attack public gatherings, including concerts, in the Russian capital.
On Thursday, the Russian security service FSB stated that it had succeeded in averting a potential IS attack on a synagogue in Moscow.
It is unclear if that matter is related to the Western terror alerts.
