Floorball may not be known for its violent tackles.
Especially not with the legs first.
But this investment may be the absolute most beautiful thing we’ve seen.
Indoor bandy has never had the reputation of being the sport where the most violent tackles, or tough hits, take place. The sport is often compared to ice hockey, and of course it’s unfair considering the protection the players have on the ice, but it’s still something that floorball can be dragged along with.
Incredible sliding tackle
Indoor bandy is rather known for its fast pace, and how skilled the players actually are with the stick and the ball at high speed. When it hits the court, it is often not open-ice, but rather a steal or a shoulder-to-shoulder slap so that a player flies over the rim.
And something you definitely don’t see often in floorball is pure sliding tackles. As you know, floorball is played with sticks, so there really shouldn’t be any reason to step in feet first at all. But when it does happen, it actually looks damn wonderful. And this clip is clear proof of that.
Think he’s Maldini
SIL is definitely not the highest level of floorball in Sweden, but rather, on the contrary, quite far from the absolute fine room. There, instead, it is three against three that applies, and the average age is significantly higher than in the elite divisions. But that’s also where the craziest situations happen, and just about anything can usually happen.
On Twitter yesterday, the user Lukas Samuelsson posted a video from SIL, where we see one of the nicest tackles ever in floorball. A player chooses without hesitation to slide feet first – just as if he were Paolo Maldini in his glory days – but here it ends with a brutal sending off, and what we can guess the sunniest sending off of the year. Of course, we hope it didn’t hurt the opponent too much, but can’t help but like foolish bets like this.
