But this year, Daniel Ståhl has been weak and worries are growing.
Now Swedish athletics expert Miro Zalar says what he thinks of the “Man of Steel”.

Last year was silent Daniel Ståhls all critics and showed why he is the best in the world at discus. During the 2023 World Championships in Athletics, he put on an incredible display in the huge drama that was decided with the very last throw.

Ståhl’s shape dip

Then Ståhl delivered under maximum pressure and sent the discus over 71 meters and broke both a new championship record and salvaged WC gold. But 2024 has been significantly slower for the blue-yellow “Man of Steel”.

The 31-year-old has not been over 70 meters once so far this year. Instead, the rivals have greatly impressed and outshined the Swede, who is the reigning WC and Olympic gold medallist.

The success of the rival

In that unforgettable World Cup final last year, the archrival was called Christian Ceh and he has continued to deliver this year as well. But the new sensation is 21 years old Mykolas Alekna as earlier this spring, the 38-year-old broke the world record with an incredible throw of 74.35 meters.

But the Swedish expert Miro Zalar is still not too worried about Daniel Ståhl’s negative form, which has caused Swedish concern ahead of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, which are fast approaching.
– I don’t really care that much about these results that happen before, which is so early in the season. We probably shouldn’t throw in the towel yet, although I understand that it raises some doubts considering that the other two threw so terribly well, he says to Radiosporten.
