Never before has a French player won the home major Evian Championship, located in the French Alps.
Ahead of Sunday’s closing laps, Céline Boutier has an excellent chance to be first. She leads the women’s fourth major of the year at -11, three strokes ahead of Japan’s Nasa Hataoka.
Just behind the chasing pack, with profiles like two-time major winner Minjee Lee, defending champion Brooke Henderson and world number two Nelly Korda, lurk two Swedes in 14th place.
After starting the day with a bogey, Anna Nordqvist had a nice round and went three shots under par. It is also her total score for Sunday.
In the same place is Linn Grant. After a slow start with no birdies in the first 14 holes, she finished the last four at -2.
In the shadow of the blue-yellow star duo, Johanna Gustavsson did the finest Swedish lap of the day. Gustavsson shot a round of 67, four under par, and climbed to 22nd place.
Pernilla Lindberg started the day at -2 but fell back after a round of 74. One stroke behind, on +2, is Linnea Ström.
