It was a fiasco for the Swedish men in Thursday’s relay after Peppe Femling shot five hurdles in the first leg.
But when it was the ladies’ turn, things went much better.
After a great display from the Öberg sisters, the Swedes were able to take a commanding victory.

It did not go well for the Swedish men in the relay in Kontiolahti. Although Sebastian Samuelsson made a fine final stretch, it was already too late after the Swedish team shot the worst of all on the wall. However, Samuelsson ensured that it was a tenth place for the quartet. Instead, hope was placed on the Swedish ladies.

Sweden picked up

Lynn Persson opened strongly on the first stretch and despite a barrier, Sweden was in the lead when it was changed over to Anna Magnusson on stretch number two. Magnusson also suffered a setback in the standing shooting, but was well on track and quickly made up for the seconds that were lost on the shooting range.

Then it was time for the Öberg sisters to step into the action. Hanna Öberg was the first to turn of the two and when she took stakes on the third leg, she did so together with a group of leaders consisting of – apart from Sweden – France, Germany and Italy.

And after the first shoot, the situation was basically the same since the entire front trio fired full, which opened up for a shaker in the last standing shoot. Once there, Elvira fired again and secured a superior Swedish victory ahead of Germany and Norway.
– Elvira Öberg decides this relay, she is so strong. She comes in and puts five shots. Wow!, says Ola Bränholm in SVT’s broadcast.
– Nice. So strong!, adds Björn Ferry.
