The Swedish diaper manufacturer is blacklisted in Ukraine

Libero, Tork and Libresse are three of several well-known brands under Swedish Essity that are now on Ukraine’s blacklist. They have factories in Lilla Edet, Mölnlycke and Falkenberg, but also three factories in Russia.

Last spring, Essity released information that they would leave Russia within two weeks, but production is still underway, writes SVT. Instead, they have increased their sales in Russia by 800 million, according to the annual report.

The Swedish listed hygiene manufacturer has declined an interview with SVT but writes in an email that the process is slow.

“As early as April 2022, we started a sale process of our Russian operations. The process is complicated and has taken longer than expected. We hope to be able to communicate more about the process shortly,” writes Sofia Hallberg, communications director for Essity, to SVT.

Earlier, several media reported that the American food giant Mondelez, which owns Philadelphia and Marabou, among other things, is on Ukraine’s blacklist. And subsequently, several Swedish traders have boycotted the products.
