But neither Maja Åskag, Tilde Johansson nor the great Swedish hope Khaddi Sagnia succeeded when it mattered most.
No one in the trio jumped far enough to reach the final and all are eliminated.
6.65 meters was required for a final place. Åskag’s 6.47, Sagnias’ 6.37 and Johansson’s 5.99 were not enough.
Khaddi Sagnia has a tough season behind her where she suffered from major injury problems. A sprained knee has meant that the 29-year-old has not been able to compete since the beginning of June. Sagnia finished sixth at both the EC in Munich and the WC in Eugene last year.
