The Swedish criticism of this year’s hockey World Cup – these are the words that the entire hockey world must hear

The Hockey WC 2023 is in full swing right now.
And Tre Kronor has had a dream start so far.
But now comes a clear criticism from Sweden of the entire world championship.

This year’s hockey World Cup in Finnish Tampere and Latvian Riga is three rounds old right now. We have already seen the host country and reigning champion Finland lose two out of three games in the group stage, while Sweden got off to a very good start.

Blue-yellow dream start

First a narrow victory against Germany, then an even bigger victory against Austria and finally a penalty win against arch-rival Finland. Three straight victories and Tre Kronor have also only conceded a single goal in nine periods played.

France – Hungary

Slovenia – Norway
Switzerland – Kazakhstan

Criticism of the WC

Not the most colorful matches right away and now there is also a clear criticism from Sweden of this year’s hockey World Cup.
– This day is not the hottest during this hockey World Cup. When Russia and Belarus, for various reasons, are not included, it becomes a devalued content of the tournament, says the expert Per Svartvadet in Radiosporten.

The hockey expert now wants to see a change in the context of the World Cup, where the tournament is reduced in terms of the number of teams in order to achieve better and more even matches. Right now there are 16 countries playing in the hockey World Cup and that is far too many, according to Svartvadet.
– I think you should reduce to a maximum of 14 pieces. You should look at the Women’s World Cup and how it is played, there the five best countries meet in a round first and then the sixth, seventh and eighth enter a playoff. Perhaps you should look at such an arrangement, because then there will also be more nice matches in the group stage, for example.
