The Swedish Consumer Agency has decided that the sale of the Hövding 3 bicycle helmet is to be stopped permanently.
Hövding Sverige AB writes in a press release that they will “immediately” appeal the Consumer Agency’s decision to the administrative court.
“Hövding is strongly critical of the decision to the decision that destroys the company and an entire product category – airbag protection for cyclists,” the company writes.
The Swedish Consumer Agency recently imposed a temporary sales freeze on the helmet, citing that it had not been properly tested before going on sale.
However, according to Hövding, the state research institute Rise has investigated the test method used during the certification and concluded that the method meets the safety requirements.
