He has extended his contract in Russia.

It was in February that Russia invaded Ukraine and started a war with Europe. Immediately, Swedes in the KHL and the Russian top league in football began to look after their contracts, and their future.

First words about the move

Lots of Swedes have broken their contracts, moved to other European clubs, but some have also made completely different choices, for various reasons. Robin Press played last season in Severstal Cherepovets, but he had an expiring contract.

Before the new season, however, he chose to extend it, and according to information, next season, at the same club, he will earn just over five million Swedish kronor. Robin Press has not commented on the move – until now. In an interview with Russian RB Sport, he explains why there was a continuation.

– I liked playing here last season and I think it’s a good opportunity for me to play here. I enjoy myself very much in Severstal. I just decided to stay and play here, he says.

“Turns out I’m off…”

Last week finally came the message from the Swedish Ice Hockey Association regarding what applies to the Swedish players who remain in the KHL. In the future, they may not be withdrawn in Three Kronor.

– It turns out that I am suspended from the Swedish national team. I can’t comment on it any more, says Robin Press.

Robin Press is one of seven Swedes who will play in the KHL next season. Fredrik Claesson, Adam Reideborn, Viktor Svedberg, Jakob Lilja, Johan Mattsson and Adam Almquist will also play in the KHL next season. No one will thus be allowed to play matches with Tre Kronor.
