The Stockholm Stock Exchange closes in the red, marked by sharp falls on the world’s stock exchanges. But despite that, more purchases than sales were made at Avanza today.
– What we can see above all is that the activity is significantly higher. Just this morning there were twice as many closings compared to Friday, says Philip Scholtzé to TV4 Nyheterna.
More people buy than sell
At the beginning of the day, there were approximately as many purchases as sales, something that, however, changed during the day when more people bought shares.
– Purchases are approximately 30 percent more than sales, says Philip Scholtzé and sees it as a positive signal in the gloomy stock market situation.
– This rather indicates that our customers are saving for the long term and see this dip as a buying opportunity, says Philip Scholtzé.
Among the shares that have performed best on both the buy and sell side during the day, Investor is at the top, closely followed by Saab and Volvo, according to Philip Scholtzé.
– It does not surprise me. These are shares that have many owners and have performed strongly, he says.
A day of red price tags
The stock market crash does not only have to be seen as negative, but can also benefit some, says Philip Scholtzé.
– If you have money to spare and want to invest in the stock market, see it as a day of red price tags.
And those who have already invested money in the stock market but do not have the opportunity to invest more, his advice is to sit quietly in the boat.
– Do nothing. Acting in a kind of panic situation then rarely makes wise decisions. Instead, sit down and think about whether you can save money from other sources than selling on the stock exchange, says Philip Scholtzé.
The war affects
There are several reasons for today’s stock market crash. Most economies have not quite recovered at a desirable pace and several quarterly reports from large companies have come in worse than expected.
The geopolitical situation in parts of the Middle East also worries the stock markets worldwide.
– When you invest in the stock market, you have to be able to handle days like this. But the stock market is going up overtime and we have to take that with us, says Philip Scholtzé.
