Then the Swedish journalist Torbjörn Nordvall – who works for the Norwegian newspaper Nettavisen – decided to have a little fun with his Norwegian colleagues.

During Sunday sprinted Frida Karlsson home victory in 20 kilometers classic style in Norwegian Lillehammer, ahead of the Norwegian Tiril Udnes Weng and her Swedish colleague Ebba Andersson who drove into third place.

But it wasn’t just the Swedish riders who were happy about their success. Also the Swedish journalist Torbjörn Nordvall who on a daily basis works for the Norwegian newspaper Nettavisen.

In a column in the Norwegian newspaper, Nordvall describes how, in the mixed zone after the race, he decided to tease a little with his colleagues who were probably not as satisfied with the Swedish victory as he himself was.

“Singing the National Anthem”
Torbjörn Nordvall has previously been press manager for the Swedish national team for 11 years – and has also been a personal media advisor to Charlotte Kalla since 2008. A collaboration that is still ongoing.

In his column in Nettavisen, he writes:
“I sing the Swedish national anthem “You old you free, you mountain-high north, you quiet, you joyous beauty” for my Norwegian journalist friends in the mixed zone after Frida Karlsson secured the victory. They listen, if somewhat strained. I got a little overheated.”
