The SVT profiles shock in the studio Oh my God

During Tuesday’s “Morgonstudion” guest Janina Seubert, researcher in nutritional neuroscience at Karolinska Institutet, SVT. The program dealt with a type of instant noodles that became popular on TikTok but were previously banned in Denmark.

The reason? The noodles should be super strong.

In June, three different kinds of noodles were banned in Denmark. Now two of these have become legal again. The third variety goes by the name “Samyang Buldak 3 x Spicy Hot Chicken”. It is allowed in Sweden.

Alexander Letic’s shock in the studio: “Oh my God”

In “Morgonstudion”, the presenters try Pelle Nilsson and Alexander Letic the instant noodles that contain the substance capsaicin, something that is also found in chilli.

– Now we’re driving!, Nilsson bursts out to the camera before the stick horses try.

It didn’t take long before there was a reaction from Letic.

– Oh, my God, oh my God!

– It was good in the beginning and now the whole mouth is on fire, after just two small noodles, says Nilsson.

Letic then starts coughing with a napkin in front of his mouth.

– You can get a cough reflex, says Morgonstudion’s guest Seubert, and continues:

– And that’s when capsaicin, the airborne capsaicin, gets into the airways. Then the cough reflex is normal, a bit like this pepper spray effect you get.

“It’s getting worse”

– If you have now broken a barrier, now your mouth is already destroyed. So if I keep eating, will it get worse? Nilsson then asks.

– Yes, it will get worse, absolutely, says Seubert.

– It can be good to know if you feel that this is very difficult. What should be used for help? Should you drink water?, says Nilsson.

– Water is not very good. Because the impulse is to turn it off because it’s hot. But as I said, capsaicin tricks the body into thinking it’s hot. It’s not hot, really.

The presenters who had already reached for the water glasses and started drinking then immediately stop and start laughing instead.

Seubert recommends sugar, protein and especially milk protein to presenters.

– Yoghurt if you have it, I would probably recommend it, she says “The Morning Studio”.
