Stina Nilsson had a tough season as a biathlete.
And is now receiving harsh criticism in neighboring Norway.
– It’s shitty to say that, says an upset Helena Ekholm to SportExpressen and hits back.
The third season as a biathlete is really tough for the Swedish jumper Stina Nilsson. Last season she managed to reach the podium at the World Cup and win SM gold.
Criticism of Stina
But this season she has not even been close to the top positions at the World Cup. The Swede has been selected for all World Cup weekends but only managed a 33rd place as the best placing so far during the season.

Over the weekend, Norwegian experts have had enough of Nilsson at the World Cup and directed strong criticism at the 29-year-old, who was once one of the world’s best cross-country skiers.
– She shouldn’t have had the chance here (in Pokljuka). She has driven completely miserable and I don’t understand why she drives the World Cup, said the NRK expert Ola Lunde in his harsh criticism.
– She has had enough chances now, but the Swedish team obviously believes in her.

Ekholm’s answer
Also the NRK colleague Harry Luchsinger fits in with the criticism of Stina Nilsson after she finished in 64th place in the last sprint race. He also wants to see the Swede kicked out of the World Cup.
– She clearly does not have the level in her, she should be moved down to the IBU Cup to compete and build some self-confidence, he says in his explanation.

After the harsh words, the SVT expert and former world figure skater leaves Helena Ekholm to counterattack and fight back against the criticism from Norway.
– I think it’s crap to say that. Stina is at the World Cup because she has earned her place. It’s not like there are a lot of skaters back home in Sweden who have to stand back because she gets the chance, says Ekholm to SportExpressen.
– But then maybe it would be good for Stina to run the IBU Cup for a week or so to compete a little more. During the World Cup in Pokljuka, there was only one race for her, and she needs to compete more.
