Elvira Öberg’s fiasco WC continues.
Now comes SVT expert Helena Ekholm with an unexpected revelation.

The hopes for Elvira Öberg ahead of this year’s WC were high, but so far it has been a real flop. Öberg was indeed involved and won bronze in the opening mixed relay, but after that she has had a desperately difficult time getting the ride times down, and on Tuesday came the next disappointment.
New flop for Elvira
Elvira Öberg started by shooting full in the first shooting of the distance, but then there were a total of four misses in the last three shootings, and she also had the worst ride time of all the Swedes. In general, Elvira’s form is a message of concern for Sweden, who were outclassed by France on the women’s side during this year’s championship.
On Saturday, it’s time for the relay in the WC, and the question is which four skaters will get the chance in the Swedish team on the women’s side. Helena Ekholm, expert at SVT, believes that there is only one given rider.
– It is very difficult, it is a very even team. Hanna Överg is a given. I think Anna Magnusson made great stretches, she rides well but doesn’t quite get the shot, says Ekholm to SVT.
The story about the star
Elvira Öberg was only the 30th skater in Tuesday’s competition, and now Helena Ekholm comes up with a serious statement about how Johannes Lukas should think before Saturday’s relay.
– If I go completely by the feeling I got today, I would probably put Elvira above, she says.
Elvira Öberg is, together with older sister Hanna, the biggest star in the Swedish national biathlon team. That she would stand over a relay during a World Cup is unthinkable for many, and Ekholm does not get approval from Elisabeth Högberg, former biathlete who is now an expert at SVT.
– Elvira and Hanna feel like they belong in a team, as they have shown before. Today, Elvira did not show her riding form or on the shooting range. It’s clever, she says, and continues:
– I don’t think Johannes Lukas puts Elvira or Hanna ahead of him. I think it’s between Mona Brorsson and Linn Persson on the last stretch.
