Several players who made the move to the LIV tour were banned from the PGA tour. Last night, the verdict came down that the suspensions remain – which is a heavy blow for Swede Henrik Stenson.
The players who have made the leap to the LIV Tour have been ported over from the PGA Tour. Three players, Talor Gooch, Hudson Swafford and Matt Jones, appealed the ruling and hoped to play in the tour’s playoffs.
Rejected the appeal
Last night the court handed down its decision and communicated that the suspensions remain. The judge did not find that the golfers suffered irreparable harm as a result of the suspension. This is as a result of the big money they have been guaranteed from the LIV tour.
The golfers who have made the leap to the criticized tour, which is financed by a Saudi investment company, have been paid huge sums for their participation. PGA Tour attorney, Elliot Peters, believes that if the suspensions are lifted in the future, LIV golfers are given a great platform to promote the LIV Tour, while playing on the PGA Tour.
“It is frustrating”
That the suspensions remain could be a heavy blow for Henrik Stenson and other golfers and risk their sporting futures, writes Expressen.
Someone who has not chosen to play for the LIV tour is world number one Scottie Scheffer, who believes that the whole situation is very problematic.
– Of course it is frustrating that they are trying to sue the tour, which also means us other players, he says.
