The suspected murderer in Skelleftehamn is considered seriously mentally disturbed

The woman, who was in her 80s, was found dead in her and her husband’s shared home in February this year. The man was later arrested at Skellefteå hospital. He was indicted in May on suspicion of murder, but alternative classifications were aggravated assault and aggravated manslaughter.

After first undergoing a minor psychiatric examination, a so-called section-7, the man has now undergone a major forensic psychiatric examination.

  • Murder suspect’s lawyer: “He doesn’t have a clear picture of what happened”

  • Should be sentenced to closed forensic psychiatric care

The chief medical officer in charge states there that the man suffered both from a serious mental disorder at the time of the suspected murder and during the psychiatric examination.

Neighbors have previously testified that the man behaved strangely and raised the alarm to the municipality.

    – He was eerie and unpleasant, said a neighbor in questioning.

The doctor recommends to the district court that, based on his condition and personal circumstances, the man should be sentenced to closed forensic psychiatric care. This is, among other things, because the man’s mental disorder means that there is a risk of relapse.
