The survival game Grounded has an amazing multiplayer feature that every game of this kind needs

The survival genre is one of the favorites of MeinMMO editor Maik Schneider. Surviving with friends, taming the game, conquering the world – that’s where he sees himself. However, if you don’t rent a server, there is always a problem: Who is hosting and therefore has the save? Grounded has a simple but awesome solution.

As a trained consolero, survival games came to me late. On the PC, the genre is much larger. It only really started with the dinosaur game ARK. Before that we only had Minecraft, which I don’t really classify as part of the survival genre.

Then came hits like Conan Exiles, the review queen Terraria or the zombie adventure 7 Days to Die. I was never alone, always had a few controller heroes with me – but that was also a bit of a problem.

Because rentable servers for PlayStation games were not available for a long time. Even today you need luck and the latest survival titles do not always support rentable servers on the consoles.

So someone always had to host the server. In order to be able to continue playing the world, you need the host – he has the save game and can start the world. In addition, many PlayStation games bind their saves to the user. Quickly copying over is only very rarely possible.

Even on the PC, you are not always protected from this problem. An annoying matter that has to be solved somehow. The survival title Grounded now shows how it’s done.

We include a trailer for the game with the mini people in the garden here:

Grounded lets you easily share hosted servers

In Grounded you are teenagers involved in a shrinking accident. You’re about half the height of a ladybug and you have to survive in the garden somehow – build a house out of blades of grass, collect morning dew and eat aphid broilers.

A wonderful survival game that I already enjoyed in Early Access:

Survival hit Grounded offers a new perspective that every player feels immediately

After the end of Early Access, the complete story is now in the game. Grounded is similar to the sea adventure Raft and can be played to the end.

However, a seemingly small feature came into play that I immediately celebrated: servers that can be shared with friends:

I can give a fellow player full control over the server and don’t always have to host it myself. A small revolution!

There are downsides. First and foremost, you need trustworthy players. There are no backups, and if a “friend” is rampaging in the world, there’s no one-click fix. An Xbox account is also required, even for the Steam version.

But both are tolerable for me.

Leave me a comment with your impression of the feature. Do you perhaps have a tip as to whether there are other survival titles that already have such a feature?
