The surveillance camera captures the murder in the car tunnel in Stockholm

The four young men were from Eskilstuna and decided on October 20 last year to go to Stockholm.

– They were going to buy clothes, says District Attorney Daniel Jonsson.

In the middle of rush hour traffic at 16.45 in the Björk Tunnel, at the entrance to the Södra länken, the murder took place.

Suddenly it was seen, through surveillance cameras that TV4 Nyheterna can now show, how the friends’ car braked and stopped in the tunnel.

– The three passengers all leave the car and start running into the tunnel system, says Daniel Jonsson.

Left in the vehicle was the driver, who had been shot four times in the head in the middle of the journey.

– I would describe it as an execution, says Jonsson.

Prosecutor: It’s mysterious

A large force was sent to the scene and was able to seize the three passages. Two of them were later dismissed from the investigation, while the third, an 18-year-old man, was today charged with murder and aggravated weapons offences.

– The two written off returned to the car and waited for the police. The third continued to run and was later apprehended further into the tunnel and he is the one I have charged. I mean it’s the shooter.

What prompted the incident?

– We have not received an answer about any motive or the like. I don’t understand time and place either, it’s mysterious to me too. Why you choose a tunnel.

Requested new hearing to confess

The accused young man has always denied any crime and stated that he was not the one who fired the shots. But on Monday he requested a new questioning with the police.

– He actually blamed the two other guys who were in the car. But now he said he wants to tell the truth, and it was that he fired the shots. But he continues to deny wrongdoing and has done so in some form of emergency, if I understand him correctly.

Why do you think it is not emergency protection?

– Firstly, he was shot four times in the head, I think it is clear that it is an intentional act when you shoot someone like that. There are two other people in the car and none of them have described that it was caused by anything. It should have appeared in the investigation if there was any threat or altercation as he describes, I think.

According to the prosecutor, it has been a time-consuming case that has been difficult to investigate.

– It has been a very large technical investigation, an extensive one. And that has been decisive in this case. Blood analysis, shooting distance assessment, shooting direction assessment, dna and gunpowder particles and the like. But it has been a difficult technical proof situation due to the fact that it has been a closed space where everyone sits very close to each other. In the surveillance cameras, you can see how the people were sitting in the car, and that has been very important. And we see how they behave immediately after the event.

The trial starts in September.
