Food supplies remain a concern in the Gaza Strip. A few days ago, on Sunday December 22, the NGO Oxfam warned of the fact that only around ten humanitarian aid trucks have been able to distribute water and food in the north of the enclave since October. In southern Gaza, enough food is not reaching civilians either.

Access to diet continues to be a challenge for the displaced populations of Mawasi, in the south of Gaza. The Abou Jarbou family comes from Rafah further south. Aïda and Souha haven’t seen a package in weeks, they told Rami Al Meghari for RFI:
“ A month and a half ago I received five cans of rotten beef. The packet of yeast had a hole in it, it looked like it had been torn apart by a mouse. It was obvious the box was old. It was damp, perhaps from spilled oil. And the flour allowed me to make bread three times. I swear ! »
Souha in turn says: “ Four days ago, I received a text message on my cell phone asking me to pick up cookies from a local organization because I’m breastfeeding. When I went there to ask for help, I was told, to my great surprise, that I was not registered on the list and that the SMS had been sent to me by mistake. »
Aid is often intercepted and resold
Parcels are still often intercepted through unscrupulous intermediaries. This is what Mohamed Nemr, from Abasan further east, explains: “ When aid arrives here, we have to buy it very expensively. Because it is sold in part to traders who resell it at prices that are too high for people. We have nothing left ! »
And for several days, the cold has been killing people in Mawasi. The UN agency for Palestinians denounces Israel’s blocking of mattresses, blankets and warm clothing at the gates of Gaza.
