The summer tour: Wilmer X misses the mixtapes

Fact: Wilmer X is playing here this summer

26/7 Tylösand (with the National Theatre), 29/7 Falkenberg, 11/8 Borgholm, 19/8 Gothenburg, (with the National Theatre), 1/9 Stockholm.

TT: How important is the summer tour to you as an artist?

— I have often been asked if I prefer club or summer tour, and the answer is still that I feel lucky that I don’t have to choose. Rock music works best in a reasonably crowded club, but at the same time there are few things that can top a summer evening in a park or in a square full of happy people.

TT: Where in Sweden do you most like to play?

— We naturally play mostly in southern Sweden, but quite honestly it matters less where we perform. The important thing is that the arrangement feels right and that the audience likes what we do. And it’s usually like that all the way from Ystad to Kiruna.

TT: What is the best concert you have seen?

— One of the countless Rolling Stones concerts I’ve witnessed. Cirkus 2003 is a strong contender.

TT: What can’t you live without on tour?

— Good music in the lodge an hour before the concert. In the past, it was mixtapes that applied, that is, cassettes. Now you have to put together digital lists instead, but there is a lot missing from the obscure old rock’n’roll that I appreciate the most.

TT: How much sleep do you get?

— Definitely too little. I have a hard time falling asleep after the concerts and unfortunately the tour bus usually leaves far too early the next day.

TT: What’s your favorite thing to eat on tour?

– Sandwiches. In the past it was almost a ritual that we went to a Chinese restaurant, but unfortunately there have been fewer of them in recent years. Octopus in black bean sauce is my favorite, I’ve eaten tons of it over the years.
