Two weeks is the time left for candidates to submit a complete file in order to participate in the presidential election or legislative. This is the first time these two elections have been held at the same time in the country.
“ From May 17 to 30, we will receive the candidates, and we are ready for itexplains Charles Munyaneza, executive secretary of the electoral commission. We are ready for that, and we will announce the provisional lists of candidates on June 6, and the final lists on the 14th, then we will continue with the electoral campaigns. »
According to the executive secretary, before the official opening of applications, eight independent personalities have already expressed their intention to run for president. A vote for which the head of state Paul Kagame was designated by his FPR party as candidate for re-election for a fourth term.
Almost two months before the vote, preparations continue for the electoral commission. “ We are almost finished with voter registrationcontinues Charles Munyaneza. The number has increased, this is mainly linked to young people who will vote for the first time. We expect around two million new voters to participate in these elections. »
In total, the electorate must reach around 9.5 million people for this election.
