The submarine project in Karlskrona delayed again – the billion building can be even more expensive

In 2015, Saab Kockums in Karlskrona was commissioned to build two new A26 submarines for the Swedish defense.

The two submarines would be ready for the period 2022-2024 and cost SEK 8.6 billion. But in 2021, it was announced that the project was delayed to 2027-2028 with a new cost of SEK 14 billion.

May have to wait another ten years

Now the project seems to be delayed further, something that Aftonbladet was the first to tell. The Armed Forces annual report states:

“The project is delayed, which will lead to a renegotiation in time and economics … The consequences of assessed delivery delays are prepared by the Armed Forces.”

In the budget base for 2026, the delivery has been moved to the period 2031-2035. There is no information about the new price.
