The strongest team in Europe announces a new squad for 2024, shocking fans at first

The best European team in League of Legends esports is G2 Esports. The team from Berlin has now announced its squad for 2024. They lived up to their reputation as masterful trolls in LoL: it seemed like their star player Caps was leaving the team.

This is G2:

  • Team G2 also became outstanding champions in the LEC Summer Split 2023. It was now the 12th victory in a season: Since spring 2016, G2 Esports has been champion 12 times on 18 occasions.
  • In the 2023 season alone, G2 E-Sports won the winter and summer splits, as well as the finals in Montpellier.

    That was the squad announcement: In a video on YouTube and Twitter “Farewell, Caps,” the team’s mid laner and star, Caps, was seen sitting in front of the camera and announcing his departure. He would get on a plane and leave Berlin.

    Anyone who knows G2 already suspected that it was a fake. Ultimately, Caps just announced that he was flying home for a vacation during the break after the league. In 2024 the current squad will be back to try again.

    The bluff that he would leave was credible because his old comrades from the 2019 G2 are gathering again in Spain.

    Many G2 fans wrote in the comments that they initially had a panic attack until Caps finally called the bluff.

    So this is the 2024 roster at G2: The squad remains the same:

  • The German BrokenBlade (23) remains on the top lane. He played at Schalke for 1 year and at TSM for 2 years
  • The jungler Yike (22) from Sweden remains in the team
  • Caps (23) will try to lead the team forward again in 2024: He has now been at G2 for 5 years
  • ADC Hans Same is entering his 2nd year with the team
  • Like Caps, supporter Mikyx has been with G2 since 2018, but was away for a year before Hans Sama brought him back into the team
