Since August 30, 2024, the Spanish doctors from the first Netflix hospital series, which is currently streaming on 3rd place in the series charts This is Breathless by series creator Carlos Montero, who was previously at home on the streaming service with the school drama Elite.
Elite fans also make up a large part of the audience, as one of the central doctors is Dr. Biel de Felipe, played by Manu Ríos. A comment under the trailer even makes a joke about it: “Patrick [aus Elite] So after graduation he went to medical school, nice.”

Things are in chaos at the Joaquín Sorolla Hospital in Valencia. While the staff are doing everything they can to save the lives of their patients, political forces are setting about dismantling the public health system. Then the great irony: Patricia Segura (Najwa Nimri), the President of Valencia, who is considered a great enemy of social medicine, is admitted to the hospital terminally ill and is dependent on the system she wants to abolish.
As with Grey’s Anatomy and other medical soap operas, the turbulent private lives of the attractive doctors also come into play. Other roles include Aitana Sánchez-Gijón, Blanca Suárez and Abril Zamora.
For Netflix, Breathless is actually the first and only in-house production in the field of medical dramas – at least until the already ordered English-language Pulse appears in the online video store. Although there are some K-dramas with doctors, these are purchased formats that previously ran on Korean television.
Eight episodes of Breathless were released online on Netflix as part of the first season. A second season has not yet been diagnosed.
