Dozens of stores from this famous brand, located everywhere in France, could disappear. The list of closures has been unveiled.
Dozens of ready-to-wear stores could soon close their doors following a restructuring plan. The management of this famous brand points out “a French clothing market which continues to deteriorate” and it says it wants to “ensure the sustainability of the company in order to always better meet consumers’ needs, to reconnect with profitability and to ensure the future of a strong brand of 184 years of history”.
A surprising speech because the brand opened a new store last summer, when it had not done it for 11 years. Recognized for the accessibility of her prices and her clothes for the whole family, she also announced that she wanted to open a dozen new shops over the following twelve months, but that did not materialize.
This brand is the famous C&A channel, whose restructuring plan was presented in March 2025. 24 stores in total are threatened. 57 Corners installed in Casino supermarkets, which were bought by Auchan, Carrefour and Intermarché, will also disappear. This could in total cause the abolition of 324 jobs.

In a market in difficulty, the brand suffers from competition and in particular that of Primark, Shein or Kiabi, which seem to resist the ready-to-wear crisis. As explained Lsathe director of the French subsidiary suddenly disappeared from radars last fall, giving way to a crisis manager.
Among the endangered stores are five points of sale from Ile-de-France: Buchelay, Lieusaint, Cergy, Brétigny-sur-Orge and Fresnes. Large cities are also affected with closures in Lille, Nantes or Tours and Nancy. All regions are impacted with the envisaged disappearance of Barentin, Claira, Vauxbuin, Noyelles-Godault, Chambly, Compiègne, Le Plessis-Belleville, Villers-Semeuse, Saint-Maur, Houssen, Mondeseville, Schweighouse-sur-Moder, Louvroil and Proville.
If these closures are confirmed, there will still be 76 shops in France. But the very future of the C&A brand seems quite uncertain: it is not in France that closures are announced. In Belgium, points of sale have drawn the curtain and in Germany, the group ceased the activity of a jeans production plant which had opened only two years earlier.
