During the football EC, Jonas Eriksson has taken a big place in SVT.
But now the judge’s profile is seen completely as a TV expert.
“As a football analyst on television, he is one of the worst, ever,” writes Johan Croneman in Dagens Nyheter.
This year’s football EC is in the final stage of the group stage and so far the entertainment has been top class. The TV channels SVT and TV4 have, as usual, shared the championship and have done so with flying colors so far.
Eriksson in SVT
At SVT, Jonas Eriksson seen a lot in the TV box so far. The former top judge has been a TV expert for several years now, and when it comes to judgment, he is invaluable to have in a TV studio.

New for this championship is that Eriksson also got his own program called “Watch the match with Jonas”. Where you can follow the match with the referee profile in one corner and his live commentary of what is happening.
Hard sawing
But now comes a rock hard giant sawing of Jonas Eriksson and his own EC program in SVT.
“After 15-20 minutes, you hope that someone will come in with a back of elephant beer and a giant shot tray for him. Worn, but telling, cliché: It’s like sitting on a chair in front of a wall and watching paint dry. It may have been an idea that sounded fun at a first editorial meeting – but was no test done? Didn’t you see and discover that it was one of the top ten worst TV ideas ever?”, writes the TV critic Johan Croneman in a column on Dagens Nyheter.

Croneman completely slaughters Eriksson as a TV expert and now gives his brutally honest verdict on the SVT profile.
“Admittedly, he seems to think very highly of himself, cheered on by SVT sport, and he is apparently popular among the Swedes (you think so anyway) – but you want to know one thing: He must have been one of the world’s best referees , but as a football analyst on TV, he is one of the worst, ever,” writes the DN journalist in his review.
“He doesn’t know much football. Knows the rule book (and for that matter he is a great asset in the TV studio), but understands very little of the game, the ideas, the tactics – he spits out a cascade of collected football clichés, tells anecdotes (not infrequently brags) about what he said to Ronaldo or Zlatan at one point or another. ‘What is a red card or what is a yellow, we interpret that differently’.”

Returning to the EC broadcast with Jonas Eriksson, Johan Croneman continues his adamant criticism and calls it a “breakdown”.
“You can also ask Jonas questions. He gets the exciting question: ‘Can you imagine being a Christmas host on TV?’. Just so you understand what level they hold – and which questions they think are the most exciting to bring up from the viewers,” he writes in his column.
“And then ‘Nannskog’ comes in (just like in the rags before, you call everyone by their last name) and says hello, and in connection Eriksson tells that Daniel Nannskog always eats all the ‘vacuum cleaners’ (bakery) that are in the studio. Hahaha. Damn rascal. And safe breakdown.”
