Within a couple of days, the Stockholm police force will be reinforced with around a hundred police officers. It is about so-called intervention police, uniformed police officers who are seen on the streets.

“With the recent development of shootings and explosions, we see a need to send additional reinforcements to Stockholm to prevent more murders from occurring in the ongoing conflicts and to increase surveillance in several locations,” says Johan Olsson, head of the National Operational Department , in a press release.

The police will help in Stockholm for two weeks. They come from all police regions, according to the press release.

“It is a very welcome addition. We are doing everything we can to break the serious spiral of violence that the region is in now and need additional resources. We look very positively on colleagues from other parts of Sweden strengthening the work in Stockholm,” says Mattias Andersson, acting regional police chief in Stockholm, in the press release.

The capital region has already been reinforced with 190 police officers from different parts of the country.
