The steps to know to withdraw money from an ATM

Have you forgotten or misplaced your bank card? To avoid finding yourself in a pickle when paying for your purchases, here’s how to withdraw a few notes from an ATM without needing your card.

Forgetting your bank card in your handbag or in a wallet left at home, or simply losing it can happen to anyone… But it is especially annoying when paying for your purchases or doing some shopping, especially if you do not have enough cash on you. So, in a situation like this, it is better to know a few tips that can help you out. It is of course possible to go to your bank counter to withdraw a few notes, but you can also withdraw money directly from the ATM, without needing your bank card. Several options are also offered by banks.

At Caisse d’Épargne, for example, you can prepare your cash withdrawal via the mobile application. You will then receive an SMS with a 9-digit confidential code to enter on the ATM’s entry screen, as well as your secret code (4 digits), chosen when activating the service. After withdrawing your money, you will receive another SMS to confirm the transaction.

Banque Populaire customers can access the SM@RT’retrait mobile application after activating the feature with their advisor. They can then choose the amount to withdraw and select the withdrawal date, then receive a unique code to withdraw a few notes with ease. Same system for Crédit Mutuel with its “e-retrait” service.

It should be noted, however, that to withdraw without a bank card, you will need to use your own bank’s ATM. A Banque Populaire customer will not be able to withdraw from a Caisse d’Epargne ATM after using the SM@RT’retrait application, for example.
