What’s coming with the second season? The developers of The First Descendant have big plans for the second season of the popular free-to-play game. At launch, the loot shooter had a whopping 264,000 simultaneous players. Now it’s finally moving on.
The second season will be released on December 5th and will bring two new playable characters, more cosmetic adjustments and an improved loot system with target rewards. Beginners benefit from easier missions, while experienced players encounter new endgame bosses.

A breath of fresh air with two new Descendants
Nexon officials have announced that there will be two new playable characters. Players can therefore look forward to a male and a female Descendant. But that’s not all, Season 2 will also offer cosmetic adjustments. Players can choose alternative hairstyles and color their characters’ default looks this season.
The developers have announced that the new characters will not only be fresh and exciting, but will also come with a balance update that will allow players to choose from a wider range of weapons and Descendants. These changes are aimed at giving players more options. A new Ultimate Descendant will also be added.
Another important change will affect the drop rate. Currently the probability of certain items is 20 percent, which is consistent with the logs, but the players’ experiences are different. Some people get the item on the first try, while others don’t get it despite multiple attempts.
Instead of simply increasing the drop rate, the developers came up with a new system. With Season 2, a “target reward” will be implemented in The First Descendant, which will allow players to get loot more easily.
The development team explained in the Community Q&A:
To improve the drop rate in Season 2, we are introducing the “Target Reward” system. […] The “Goal Reward” system aims to remedy this by allowing players to select a mission and receive guaranteed rewards after a certain number of attempts.
