After opposition groups entered the capital Damascus in Syria and the Assad regime lost control, Syrians living in Turkey celebrated at the Cilvegözü Customs Gate in Hatay’s Reyhanlı district. Mahmud Esma, one of the Syrians who returned to their country, called: “I am especially calling out to Syrian youth. We are free now, everyone should return to their homeland.”
THEY MEET AT THE BORDER GATE
Opponents against the Assad regime in Syria entered the capital Damascus after a 12-day advance. Following the developments, Syrians took to the streets and celebrated by holding Turkish and Free Syrian Army flags in their hands in the early hours of the morning. Syrians, who toured the city with a vehicle convoy, later met at Cilvegözü Customs Gate. Meanwhile, many Syrians continued to return to their hometowns, especially Aleppo, Homs and Hama.
“LET EVERYONE RETURN TO THEIR HOMELAND”
Mahmud Esma, who settled in Hatay 6 years ago due to the civil war, said that Syria is now liberated and he came to the customs gate to return to his hometown. Esma said, “I especially appeal to Syrian youth. “We are free now, everyone should return to their homeland,” he said.
“THE GUESTATION IS OVER”
Abdulsafi Uhud thanked Turkey for hosting us for 7 years and said, “The hospitality is over. “We are free and independent now, we are returning to our country,” he said.
BURUK BECAUSE HE WILL LEAVE TURKEY
Hafza Sultan said that she was very happy to return to her hometown, but it was also bittersweet to leave Turkey, which had hosted her and her family for years.
