The moderates propose that the state step in and pay parts of household electricity bills this winter, when electricity prices are expected to skyrocket. It must be done through high-cost protection, similar to what exists today in Norway.

Exactly how it should be designed is unclear. But M’s economic policy spokesperson Elisabeth Svantesson gives an example.

– You can imagine that the state would take 75 percent of the cost of anything over one kroner per kilowatt hour.

According to her estimate, this corresponds to approximately SEK 6,000 back in the wallet for a family in Norrland.

– No one should have to leave home this winter because of an electricity bill.

According to this model, the cost to the state would be SEK 15 billion for a three-month period.

In addition, M, according to earlier, is pushing for the expansion of nuclear power and also proposes that the premium for the expansion of solar cells should be increased from a 15 to 20 percent discount. The discount should also be extended to other climate-smart options, such as the installation of an air source heat pump, suggests Svantesson.

– It both saves electricity consumption and can also increase the production of electricity.
