The state of Maine also ruled that former President Donald

Earlier, the Supreme Court of the state of Colorado ruled that Trump is not eligible for election in the state because of his participation in the rebellion.

In the United States, the election authority of the state of Maine has decided that the former president of the country will not Donald Trump be eligible to vote in the primary.

Electoral Officer, Secretary of State Shenna Bellows justified his decision by the fact that Trump played a role in the events of the epiphany of 2021, in which a mob took over the US Congress Capitol building in the capital, Washington.

According to Bellows, Trump’s takeover of Congress violated Section 3 of the 14th Amendment to the Constitution, according to which those involved in an anti-constitutional rebellion cannot be elected to public office.

– I did not make this decision lightly. I am aware that no Secretary of State has previously barred a presidential candidate from running for office based on Section 3 of the 14th Amendment to the Constitution. However, I am also aware that no presidential candidate has previously participated in a rebellion,

A Trump campaign representative says the decision will be appealed to the federal courts. The election authority’s decision is conditional until the courts get a ruling on the matter.

Efforts have been made to block Trump’s candidacy in several states

About a week ago, the Supreme Court of the state of Colorado ruled that Trump is not eligible for election in the state.

The Supreme Court of Colorado also justified its decision with Section 3 of the 14th Amendment to the Constitution, according to which participants in an anti-constitutional rebellion cannot be elected to public office if they have previously given a promise to defend the Constitution when taking office.

The ruling also ordered the secretary of state to remove Trump from the list of candidates for the Republican primaries.

The Colorado Supreme Court decision will not take effect until January 4, 2024, to give the nation’s highest court time to rule on the matter.

There are also lawsuits in other states seeking to block Trump’s candidacy through a constitutional amendment.

Trump appealed Colorado’s decision to the U.S. Supreme Court, which is next expected to rule on whether Trump can be disqualified on the grounds of a Civil War-era amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

The US presidential primaries will be held in early 2024. The actual presidential elections will be held in November.
