The fourth of May, or “May the fourth” is celebrated by Star Wars fans worldwide as International Star Wars Day.
This took fans Emma Dunnett and Erik Pettersson to the next level.
They got married on the day in honor and the wedding had a movie theme as far as the eye could see.
– We hit the big drum – “now we drive”, says Erik Pettersson.
The couple Emma Dunnett and Erik Pettersson love everything to do with Star Wars and describe themselves as real fans.
– It is part of our identity. We live Star Wars every day, says Erik Pettersson.
When they were to celebrate their love for each other, the theme was clear – in true Star Wars spirit.
– We hit the big drum – “now we drive”, says Erik Pettersson.
“May the fourth be with them”
– We had to wait two years for us to match this special day and get married on the fourth of May, says Erik Pettersson.
The wedding, which was held at Lindbacka mill outside Örebro, was incredibly detailed. Darth Vader was the officiant and Din Djarin’s best man. The sweets were inspired by the famous lightsaber, the slot machines had a “Star Wars” theme and the flowers had spaceships.
– We called in a group that could come dressed up. Then we drove our entrance march to “The Imperial March”. Emma also got to slide in to Star Wars music, then we also made sure that the officiant was Darth Vader.
Isn’t he the bad guy?
– You want to be ordained by a mass murderer, replies Emma Dunnett jokingly.
The ring bearer up to the altar was also a figure of Baby Yoda.
– It was specially made to carry rings, says Emma Dunnett.
The passion for Star Wars is expressed in many ways in their everyday life.
– There is so much to watch, both films and series. There are comics to read, toys to play with, puzzles to solve. There is an endless amount to do in that world, says Erik Pettersson.
