Four starts and three Finnish records. Reetta Hurskeen the start to the government has been muted.

On Sunday, Hurske twice broke the Finnish record for 60-meter hurdles. In the preliminaries, he improved his SE time of 7.90 a couple of weeks ago to 7.88. In the final, he took another two hundredths off the time.

Hurske has already shaved seven hundredths off his record during this reign.

– Now I can get pretty well from the racks to the first fence. I was able to keep the rhythm strong and moving forward. They are such steady runs, Hurske commented to Urheilu.

There is a coach along the same lines Marjukka Suihko.

– He was able to keep the run well together. I have tried to tell Reeta that my own performance is important. 60 meters is such a short and explosive distance that you can’t think about anything other than your own performance. Reetta succeeded well in that.

The star runner was left behind

Won the race Pia Skrzyszowska with a time of 7.84. Last summer, he won the European Championship gold in the 100-meter hurdles.

Hurskee’s SE time is the second time in the European statistics of this reign. The 27-year-old Finn left behind some tough names.

Such a name is, among other things, Dutch Nadine Visser. He has won the two previous European indoor championships and the World Championship bronze. Visser’s record is a tough 7.77.

Visser and Hurske are both athletes born in 1995. They have competed in the same youth age groups.

– We have been in quite a few value competitions. Nadine is the kind of athlete who digs for fitness as the season progresses. If I were his coach, I wouldn’t be worried. On the other hand, last year was not the best for him, says Suihko.

Hurske himself was moderate about beating Visser.

– I’m not going to underestimate him. However, it is about such small things. We’re pretty close.

Suihko was delighted by how well Hurske was able to put in the effort for last summer’s EC winner.

– The Polish runner is really tough on the smooth 60 meters and 100 meters. He is one of the best smooth runners in Poland. I’m proud that Reetta didn’t stay far from him.

Consistency is more important when thinking about EC halls

Hurske himself will compete next weekend in France. After that, there are four competitions on the calendar before the European Championships in Istanbul. However, according to Suihko, discretion is used.

– If you have that level of detachment, you have to make sure that traveling doesn’t become too burdensome.

According to Suihko, the time can still be hundredths off this winter.

– We have aimed for the main target to be in the EC halls. If Reetta stays healthy, yes, hundreds of parts should come out of it. The times he has run in training are harder than last season.

Hurske himself hopes for smooth runs from the government.

– However, it (evenness) is important in value competitions. Steady work is more important to me at the moment than how much more would come out of it.
