The star does all the stunts himself and there is a reason for that

The first season of The Night Agent became a mega success on Netflix in 2023. The series received almost 100 million views within the first 91 days, which catapulted it to 7th place in the streamer’s all-time top 10 English-language series. In addition to a gripping agent story, The Night Agent also featured brilliant action. Lead actor Gabriel Basso has an iron rule for this, which he also implemented in season 2.

As the Peter Sutherland actor revealed to host Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show (via Deadline ), he jumps into the breach himself during the series’ action-packed stunts instead of having a stuntman represent him. There is a specific reason for him:

I think this can be misinterpreted. Like I’m trying to say I’m doing it because I can, and that’s not the point. It’s about, to captivate the audience.

For him, it is nothing less than a lie if he fools the audience with a stuntman:

I don’t want the audience to watch the show, and right when I’m about to get punched or thrown on my back, [tausche ich mit einem Stuntman]. I have the feeling that would be a lie. I enjoy acting, I don’t like lying. There is a difference.

For Basso, that also means taking a hit or two himself:

For the immersion of the audience, for credibility, it is important that [die Zuschauenden] Watching Peter take a beating. And if that means that I’m thrown against a wall, then that’s it. This isn’t the end of the world.When is The Night Agent Season 2 coming to Netflix?

The second season of the Netflix hit includes 10 episodes, all of which will be released on the streamer at once.
