Some of the patients feel that the disease is stigmatizing and have received bad treatment.

The growing number of monkeypox cases is causing concern in different parts of the world. The World Health Organization WHO has defined the virus as a global health threat.
The rising number of cases in the United States has prompted President Biden’s administration to consider declaring a national health emergency.
Outbreaks of the disease have already been reported in more than 70 countries around the world. The matter is clear from the statistics collected by the WHO. Almost 19,000 cases have already been reported.
In the United States, according to the CDC, almost 4,000 cases of the disease have already been identified in the country, and infections have appeared in almost every state. The United States confirmed last week that monkeypox has also been found in children.
The next highest number of cases have been found in Spain, well over 3,000. Also in Germany and Britain, nearly 2,500 infections have been found each.
According to the WHO, most cases of monkeypox have been reported in Europe and North America. There have also been reports of cases in South America, Africa and Australia.
Some countries already vaccinate against the disease
Countries are now also preparing for the virus financially.
In Britain, funding has been granted for the development of tools that can be used to measure the effectiveness of vaccinations in use or under development. Funding has also been given to measure the antibody levels of the disease.
In the United States, the country’s administration has estimated that the country needs to set aside seven billion dollars to deal with the monkeypox situation.
There are vaccines against monkeypox, which also include the vaccine originally developed against smallpox. Some preparations have been found to help even when used shortly after exposure.
Among others, Britain, Canada, France and the United States have started offering vaccines to those people who are at the greatest risk.
The spread of the disease in the population is feared
According to experts, gay men and healthcare personnel are at the greatest risk of contracting the disease. In the United States, however, there are now fears that the disease will spread to a wider population.
The BBC reports that 50 Democratic representatives have demanded the president in an open letter Joe Biden to declare a health emergency in the country and to repatriate millions of vaccine doses from the US’s overseas production facilities.
Until now, the country’s efforts to combat the virus have been slowed down by a vaccine shortage and slow testing. The situation has indeed been compared to the country’s slow response to the coronavirus in early 2020.
Those who have contracted monkeypox experience shame
The city of New York has asked the WHO to rename the monkeypox virus so that it does not stigmatize people who have contracted the disease and seek treatment.
An American interviewed by the news agency Reuters Matt Ford says that one Friday in June he received a call from his friend, with whom he had spent time. A friend suspected that he had contracted monkeypox.
– After the call, I examined my skin and noticed lesions that I didn’t have before. It was immediately clear to me that it was monkeypox, says Ford.
Ford says that he experienced a lot of different symptoms as a result of the infection.
– In the first week, I had flu-like symptoms, such as fever, chills and I was sweating profusely. My throat was also sore and I had a cough.
He had flu-like symptoms for about a week, after which more and more skin changes began to appear.
– I noticed at least 25 of them on different parts of my body.
Ford pleads that monkeypox sufferers should not be stigmatized because of the disease.
– I want to say to everyone who is exposed to the disease or gets infected, that they have not done anything wrong. It just happened to happen.
Ford also needs vaccines to help tame motion sickness.
– I think vaccines are now the most important thing we can use to prevent the spread of this disease. I hope we can get them into the arms of people in areas where the disease is spreading, instead of them being jammed in a Danish warehouse.
