PSG experienced a bitter defeat yesterday in the Champions League. Star player Lionel Messi was tackled by a supporter after the match.

After yesterday’s top match of the Football Champions League, we saw a startling situation. French PSG had just lost 0-2 away to Bayern Munich, when a spectator who rushed onto the field wanted to kill the superstar of the French club Lionel Messi’s. The Argentinian left the field towards the dressing room corridor, when a supporter ran towards the player from behind.

The spectator slipped just before Messi and the collision was not far away.

In the English Premier League, a somewhat similar situation was seen over the weekend in Liverpool’s 7-0 crushing victory over Manchester United. The Liverpool players were celebrating a goal near the corner flag when a spectator rushed onto the field ran towards the crowd, slipped and hit a Liverpool defender by Andrew Robertson.

After the incident, Robertson was left on the grass holding his leg, but continued to finish the match. Liverpool said they had given the supporter a lifetime ban from the team’s matches. A 16-year-old boy was arrested and Merseyside Police are investigating the incident together with the Liverpool club.

With the defeat, PSG was eliminated from the Champions League, and the German club advanced to the top eight. Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Serge Gnabry completed Bayern’s hits after the away team lost the ball.

Messi, who led Argentina to the world championship in December, was awarded last year’s best male player at the International Football Association’s gala in February. There has been a lot of speculation about Messi’s future, as the player’s contract with PSG expires in June.
