The night sky over Spain and Portugal was colored by a strong blue glow during the night to Sunday. On social media, the spectacular event has gone viral. And perhaps with good reason, as the phenomenon is not very common.
– This happens relatively rarely, in Sweden it happens about once every ten years, says Eric Stempel, researcher at the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Uppsala University.
He believes that the meteorite most likely disappeared into the Atlantic Ocean, making it difficult to find any trace of it.
