The review board acquits Cold facts • Johansson: The government’s power has been abused
The authority for psychological defense, MPF, reported Cold facts to the review board in May. The authority considered that interviews with employees were taken out of context, something that could damage trust in MPF.
Already in July, demands for resignation were raised from the Social Democrats and Peter Hultqvist stated that the party lacked confidence in the authority’s director general Magnus Hjort. On Monday, the party confirmed that the demand remains.
– We have already said before that we lack confidence in the authority’s director general Magnus Hjort, and of course we stand by that, says Morgan Johansson (S).
The government also responsible
The Member of Parliament and for this the Minister of the Interior simultaneously directs sharp criticism at the government, which he believes is responsible for the fact that the report ended up on the review board’s table from the very beginning.
– The report against TV4 was preceded by meetings between the MPF and the government office. The first meeting was already held the day after the first report was broadcast, says Morgan Johansson and adds:
– The government also knew that MPF would demand that TV4 cut its reportage, a demand that goes against the constitution.
“What the prime minister knew”
In its report to the committee, the authority demanded that TV4 remove part of the program, something that was criticized because it could be perceived as censorship. Morgan Johansson is on the same line and believes that government power has been abused to try to silence the reporting.
– This increasingly appears to be part of SD’s crisis management. In that case, government power has been used to try to shut down a media house, make the journalists suspicious and silence the reporting, says Morgan Johansson and points out the Prime Minister’s responsibility:
– Responsible Minister Carl-Oskar Bohlin’s role must of course be reviewed by KU. But also what the prime minister knew. After all, it is in his office at the State Council Committee that the SD officials sit.
