The other teams in the SHL think that the Skellefteå players are filming on the ice.
Yesterday, Färjestad’s coach Tomas Mitell had enough and scolded them.
– It gets frustrated when they go around and throw themselves the whole match, he says in TV4 Play.
After the match, many have reacted to a particular event.
Skellefteå managed to defeat Färjestad 6-4 after two late goals on Thursday evening. With two minutes left in the match, the score was 4-4, but the home team scored two quick goals and thus went into the league lead. After the match, there was a lot of talk about a particular incident on the ice – and the behavior of the Skellefteå players, which disturbs many SHL lovers.
Escaped punishment
Ferjestad’s Marcus Westfält and Skellefteås Andrew Johnson ended up in a duel in the first period and the former pushed his opponent who fell to the ice. It resulted in a two-minute suspension for interference. It felt a bit cheap, which many agreed with.
The same Andreas Johnson was then involved in another situation later in the match and also received a dismissal with him when FBK’s August Tornberg went out and risked a match penalty, which he later avoided. It was clear that many people were disturbed by Johnson’s reinforcements and therefore many probably thought that he would be reported to the disciplinary committee on Friday – which has not happened. He thereby escapes any punishment.

– It gets frustrated when they go around and throw themselves the whole match and get twos on top of that. That is part of the frustration I feel, says Färjestad’s coach Tomas Mitell to TV4 Play after the match, confirming that he thinks the players are filming:
– I absolutely thought they did.
Robin Figren is ashamed
One of all who reacted strongly to Andreas Johnson’s amplification of the situation, or filming if you will, is the former SHL forward Robin Figrenwho played for HV71, Djurgården, Frölunda and Linköping.
“I always do EVERYTHING to find reasons why hockey players don’t step up in questionable situations because that’s how it’s always been and always will be. I want to hear an explanation from Ante before summing this up, but so far I’m ashamed,” he writes on X (formerly Twitter).

Figren was far from the only one to pay attention to the situation. Many people went crazy and unsubscribed on social media. Here is a selection of comments that touched on the topic. All are taken from platform X.
“Disgusting. Hockey must be kept free from this football-inspired maggot. Contempt. Contempt. Contempt. And no: This is not just about Saik,” one person comments.
“Could probably be the most embarrassing filming I’ve seen”, thinks another.
“That SAIK films the way they do is just embarrassing,” writes a third.
“Not because it’s their job in the world in any damn way, but Skellefteå AIK are not very easy to like these days. Unbelievably unattractive squad,” someone writes.
“I have never seen a team throw/dive on the ice like Skellefteå does. Hope Robban Ohlsson proud of this! (Irony). Unfortunately takes Holm and Folkestrand bitten again and again tonight. A bunch of ballet dancers are Skellefteå AIK’s hockey team. Pathetic!”, writes an outraged person.

There are really many people who were extremely disturbed by this. Do you agree that Skellefteå films and reinforces many situations?
Or do you think any other team plays uglier in the SHL? Feel free to comment what you think and feel.
