14-year-old William Samuelsson has become a local celebrity thanks to his popular sing-along evenings in the family’s garden.
It started small, but now his events attract nearly 100 people.
When William received the surprise of his life – a greeting from idol Pernilla Wahlgren – he could hardly believe his ears.
– Wow! This is very cool!” exclaims William.
The entertainer William has gone from attracting the 25 closest neighbors and relatives to attracting 100 people to his garden in Lundby just outside Norrköping on Saturday.
– The funnest thing is that I get to sing myself, which I love, but also that I can invite others. There will be a wonderful connection between me and the audience, says William with a big smile.
An unexpected greeting from the idol
14-year-old William got the surprise of his life when suddenly a familiar voice was heard in Efter fem’s studio:
– Hello William, Pernilla Wahlgren here. I have heard that I have received competition as a choir leader! I think it’s fantastic that you spread joy and go “all in” with your sing-along evenings. Who knows, in a few years it might be you who take over Allsång at Skansen!
William could hardly believe his ears – his great idol spoke directly to him, making the moment unforgettable for William.
– I am very inspired by both Lotta at Liseberg and Allsång at Skansen. It’s very cool to hear this from Pernilla! he says. She is a great source of inspiration, and I have been singing many of her songs this summer.
Pernilla also said she saw a glimpse of her own son, Benjamin, in William – a comparison that made him both proud and moved.
The rising star of singing
As the summer draws to a close, William is already looking forward to next year’s sing-along evenings. Maybe he invites Pernilla to sing with him in the garden next summer? One thing is certain: William Samuelsson has put singing on the map in his hometown, and who knows what the future holds for this young talent.
