It finally happened Nils van der Poel who took home this year’s season of the acclaimed SVT program “Master of Champions”. The 27-year-old has dominated for long periods during the course of the television program and also became historic in connection with the overall victory.

Because the skating king won 13 out of 20 competitions, which no one has ever done before in the history of the television program. The final duel was nevertheless extremely dramatic when van der Poel squared off against the former athlete Johan Wissman in an exciting duel.

Where the Olympic gold hero managed to get his dominoes down first and get to celebrate with the big victory trophy. Runner-up Wissman is nevertheless extremely satisfied and proud of his contribution to the program.
– It was great fun, of course, a long journey and many experiences. So it was fantastic fun to be with all the way, into the tile. I had expected it to be tough and because I went so far, it was such a long time with a lot of competitions. Wissman’s answer
Nils van der Poel was the big favorite before the TV show even started much because of his big winner’s skull, but also because he was so much younger than his competitors and just recently finished his sports career. Something that has raised strong opinions among TV viewers who have thought it was unfair that van der Poel was included this year.
“Why is van der Poel allowed to join? He is 26, finished his career last year. Doesn’t even feel exciting. He is superior in everything,” writes one user on Facebook.
“Nils has barely finished elite sports. How will the others have a chance?”, writes another.

Now Johan Wissman answers openly to the criticism from the television viewers.
– No, but it has been like that sometimes that in some years there has been someone who has just quit. When I saw that Nils was going to participate, I laughed a little and thought “yes, yes, but then it will be difficult to win”, that was the first thing I thought. But at the same time, I felt that it was incredibly fun because I would have the opportunity to meet Nils as well. It’s fun that he was there and to get to know him, so I only see that as positive, he says in the interview.

Wissman and van der Poel became close during the filming of Master of Masters and became very good friends. Johan really wishes Nils this victory.
– It was fun to meet him in the final. I’m sure he thought it was fun to meet me too. We’re in slightly different phases, it’s been quite a while since I quit and he’s quite a bit younger and has just quit and stuff like that. So he probably had the feeling that he had to win, he is meeting slightly older people. He was probably very happy, says the former athlete to the entertainment site.
