The simple and economical tip to no longer have cold

In winter, to keep your feet warm, it is possible to buy thermal insoles… Or to test this technique which allows you to gain a few degrees. A very useful tip as a cold snap is about to freeze certain regions of France.

France is about to see its temperatures drop due to a cold wave coming straight from the northeast. Indeed, this polar cold risks freezing the country in the days to come, and the whole family will have to dress accordingly. Although we tend to cover up well with a scarf, gloves, a hat and a big coat, we don’t always think about wearing warm shoes. Certain accessories such as thermal insoles allow you to keep your feet warm, for example. But there is a very useful and economical alternative to stop freezing your feet. It’s Jonathan, aka @jonathanconiconseils who tested this technique and reveals how to do it on his Tiktok account.

This influencer assumes that thermal insoles are partly designed with a layer of aluminum to insulate the shoe. He then advises removing the sole of your sneakers or shoes and taking a piece of aluminum that you fold into two parts. Fold the aluminum once more, then trace the outline of your sole by placing it on the aluminum, using a felt-tip pen. This step will then allow you to cut the aluminum layer to the same size as your sole. Then simply attach the aluminum to your sole with tape and place your sole back inside the shoe, with the aluminum side down, between the shoe and the sole.

To evaluate the effectiveness of this technique, Jonathan measured the temperature of his feet in real conditions. One of the shoes is equipped with the sole with aluminum and the other without. Using a laser gun and after staying outside for half an hour with a temperature of 0 degrees, he managed to determine the temperature of his feet. The aluminum-free shoe has a temperature of 14.2°C, while the other displays 18.6°C, a gain of 4.4°C from one foot to the other. A simple and economical technique, knowing that thermal insoles cost more than around 15 euros. Also to be tested on children’s little feet!
